Even the first lady seems to think so, and not just her but doctors and scientists also think this is a huge problem. The only people that needs to be convinced is parents and the victims themselves. Childhood obesity is mainly caused by lack of exercise, overeating, and too much exercise.

You can not always decide if someone is obese by just looking at them, because children all carry their weight differently. Being overweight and obese are two very different things. Overweight is a higher weight than normal considering height and age. Obesity on the other hand is excessive body fat. We all have what's called leptin it is a hormone in our fat cells that supposed to tell us if we are starving and if we have eaten too much. Obesity is associated with several different types of cancer like breast, colon, endometrium, esophagus, kidney, pancreas, gall blatter, prostate, thyroid, and cervix cancer. It also could lead to metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, diabetes, psychological problems, high cholesterol, tooth decay and could harm the immune system. Nearly 20% of children have untreated tooth decay. CHildren with obesity is also at a higher risk of poor bones and joints and sleep apnea. It may also affect children at school. Children with obesity in some cases have low self esteem and depression creating overwhelming feelings.
