Why Is Circle Justice Better Than Jail Cells

I'm Evan Bednarz, and I believe that justice is a better punishment for Cole Matthews than the confinement of a jail cell. No person is completely fixed or rehabilitated from going to prison, and Cole is no exception. He is a 15 year old boy, suffering from the neglect and abuse of his parents while having severe anger issues. Jail has no way of actually fixing any of these issues, instead it scares him into not wanting to go back, rather than fixing the problem. Circle justice is the best option for Cole Matthews. Rather than jail, it gives Cole the best opportunity at success and not commit a crime, gives him an environment to genuinely think about himself and face his problems, and serves his time corruption and danger free of himself and …show more content…
Circle justice is shown to only have a 19% recommit rate after release, but a study showed that after 5 years of release from jail, about 70% of former criminals will reoffend. Cole has clearly shown no remorse or regret for his actions, and evidently, the Justice Department is doing something different and better rehabilitate criminals out of their ways. Considering Cole’s criminal record, Circle Justice is a healthy way for him to reflect on himself amongst all his anger and emotions, and reason with his issues, rather than taking his anger out in unhealthy ways. Isolation without being confined to a cell is one of the most personalized situations. It gives people an opportunity to truly find themselves in whatever situation they might be in. It gives them the opportunity to think without the stress of confinement in a cell. Circle justice allows the opportunity for someone to feel free, while also forcing them to face their problems face to face with nothing else to interrupt or stop them. It forces the person to learn about themselves, who they are as a person, and how they face their
