Imagine being diagnosed with a life taking disease at a very young age. Helen Keller at only 19 months old was diagnosed with an illness called “brain fever.” Brain Fever is an inflammation of the brain and causes high body temperature. When the dinner bell rang that evening she was diagnosed, Helen made no movement whatsoever like she has in the past. Keller’s mom waved her hand in front of Helen’s face and Helen made no movement again. Her mom knew something was up. Helen's parents took her to get checked out and later found out that she “was left permanently blind and deaf.” (Helen Keller's Watch) Helen Keller is a hero because she inspired many people about what she has achieved and been through. Anne was a blind women, and contributed her life to helping Helen get better and learn. Anne began to go to Helen's house when she was 6 years old to educate her. She taught her finger spelling. Helen kept getting annoyed and frustrated. Soon tantrums and throwing herself on the ground, screaming, and kicking came along after learning more and more words. Anne then took Helen to a plantation and stayed in a cottage so then Helen could learn without distractions and focus. Helen learned 30 words by night time. Anne Sullivan is a very well person for taking on such a challenge and giving up her life and career to take care of Helen.
Meanwhile, some people did not think that Helen Keller was the real hero. They believed it was Anne Sullivan because Anne gave up her life and career to teach Helen and to educate her. If it wasn't for Anne, Helen would not be the women she was to this day. Without her Helen would have never gotten into the colleges and schools she was accepted to. She would of never had all of her amazing accomplishments and recommendations. She would of never been educated the great way she
