Isolationism was strong in the early 1930’s because European countries did not want to repay their World war debts except Finland. Americans were also getting information from articles in the newspaper that the arms manufacturers had gotten America entangles in the war. The papers had gotten their information from the Nye Committee who had investigated and documented the earning of the arms manufacturers. Their earning were huge and the reports made people believe that those businesses had made America get involved in the war, and eventually go to war.
