The British empire had both its good and bad sides. On the positive side it stopped some slavery by forbidding the ownership of slaves and even added some political peace. Also, they increased means of communication. However, there are lots of negative things to including that there was a lot of poverty and they attempted to convert Africa to Christianity while also stealing their land. The British empire was a good thing because it ended cruel practices, and improved society in all its colonies.

The British Empire helped by getting rid of slaves. Slaves were a big problem back then and Britain wanted to stop the killing of female babies and to stop the ownership of slaves. The British came trying to convert them into Christianity but they took Africa's land too. ""When the missionaries came to Africa they had the bible and we had the land"(tutu). This quote tells us that the British were trying to convert them to Christianity but later in the article it goes to say the Egyptians had the bible and the British had the land. I believe my side is right because they helped a lot and according to the map on source B they had a lot of land including Africa, India, and many more if it was such a bad thing there wouldn’t be so many places still using British traditions and still associate with them through common wealth. These places are independent yet all the bad things Britain may have done they choose to associate themselves with them. I think this is because all the good things Britain did also.
