The Sahara’s environment is very dry, and hot. The world’s highest daytime temperature is located in the Sahara, at 136 degrees in 1922. But surprisingly enough, it has a very diverse landscape! There are many different colored layers of land and different geographic structures. The two main bodies of water are the Nile, and Niger river, there are also many small or medium-sized bodies of water. It is surrounded in the East by the Red sea, and on the West by the Atlantic Ocean. Water is essential to our very being, in the text it states that “People move to an oasis for many reasons.” one of the reasons being that water is very scarce in the Sahara, with unexpected droughts, and that people need water for agriculture. Not to mention the animals that graze around there is a good source of protein.
It also states in the text that a group of people called the Tuareg, and that “Their long, loose clothing protects them from the burning sun.” This is another form of adaptation, by wearing this type of clothing, they can protect themselves from the scorching sun, and cool
