Millions of animals are dying every year due to animal cruelty. These animals are forced to struggle for survival because of unsuitable living conditions, negligence and the cruel behavior of their owners or individual abusers. Many of these animals are kept in unsanitary conditions, with insufficient food and water, deprived from the compassion and care they deserve. All around the world, animal cruelty is a serious issue. It can take many forms including owners’ failure to provide for their pets, overt and intentional acts of violence towards animals and putting financial benefits before the animals’ rights as living creatures. Live export is one of these unfortunate cases. Live export is a cruel and illegal act that has significantly increased in the recent years. There are many other options that are way less cruel and much more efficient than live export. We can increase regional Australian meat processing, improve shipping conditions or consult with religious leaders about the production of “Halal” meat. By improving shipping conditions and introducing more spacious carrier ships with air-conditioning facilities, we reduce the amounts of disease that occur during shipping and prevent sheep’s from suffering from heat stroke. These animals don’t deserve to be treated so poorly and people are finally beginning to realize that. A recent protest against live export took place in Fremantle, Perth.
