CBS News gives great insight to the debate on if Huck Finn should be censored. A reporter named, Bryon Pitts was asked to interview people on the subject. He interviewed teachers at Woodbury High School, and they read the original book. However, one teacher Nora Wise says the word “nigger” but the other teacher Karen morril does not. Nora Wise talked about how she uses the word in class just to see her class’s reactions. Wise said “It makes sense in this novel to teach it with the controversy. It teaches people how life was in early America. By leaving the book the way it is, it gives a taste to how black people were treated, and how far America has come as a country. Twain does not use racial slurs to discriminate, he uses them to catch peoples attention and to make a point. He was just opening the eyes to Americans at the time. No man deserves to be treated like an animal no matter the skin color. This is a lesson that can still be taught in modern day classrooms, it is not right to treat someone bad because they are different, and instead treat others the way you would want to be
