Conner argues that having tough teachers and bosses prepares people for the “real world,” while she is right in some ways, she is very mistaken in others. She argues for a one-size-fits-all learning environment. One example she gives is a teacher who “stomped, screamed and at times drove his students to tears.” Screaming at students, or at people in general, is unacceptable. Schools should be been recognized as a safe space for students. When students are driven to tears in a classroom, a line must be drawn.
