In the novel a main character lies about his identity and who he is for almost all his life. He does this because of a deceitful tragic event that happened in the past; when he was in the war. So he carries on his life, getting older and older, still lying and being dishonest about who he really his. He does this and the lie catches onto him causing him to jump off a high verandah on his apartment floor, committing suicide. He lied to his kids, grandkids and friends and eventually he couldn't take it anymore. All the lies and falsehood got in his head, making him stressed and anxious and so he decided to take his own life.
In conclusion, lying can get us into even more trouble than we were hoping for in the first place. We lie and we lie and digging ourselves deeper and deeper into a hole where in the end we can’t get out of.
