In Framing the Constitution, Beard presents evidence about the men who created the Constitution. Beard claims that the politically educated men were most concerned with property and the benefit of the wealthy class. He goes on to explain his point with evidence on the basis of the creation, improvements, and ratification of the Constitution. In this paper, Beard intends to prove that the makers of the constitution were more interested in the wellness of private property and the wealthy class, rather than democratic policies. He states that the original works upon the idea of minimal government was too weak to withhold certain issues.
In order to improve the issues that could not be solved with too less government, representatives were advised to attend conventions. Beard explains, the men that attended these conventions were very experienced in the world of politics. After he lays out who came together, he talked about the right to property being the topic that the men were most anxious about. Beard supports his statement with a few quotes from Governor Morris and King that express that property was the main goal of society.
