William C houston was a New Jersey representative in the 1700s. Of the many men at the constitutional convention William C. Houston is one of them. He was a man that would do many things for his country including fighting. He was a soldier for 2 years and worked on many levels of government. He also worked as a lawyer and graduated with an education degree.
William C. Houston was born 1746, in South Carolina to Archibald Houston and Margaret Churchill houston. He inherited his mother's middle name Churchill but was given the name William. He had a brother named Archibald Houston jr. who took his name from the father. Because of his mother's descent he he was half Scottish. The family moved to New Jersey where he attended College of New Jersey which is now Princeton, where he graduated and received a degree in education in 1768. He then became a teacher at the college and worked there for a couple of years before he eventually retired.
William C Houston attended the Constitutional convention but because of illness he was only able to attend for 2 of the days. He missed the final day of the Convention because of illness. Because he was absent from the meeting on the final day his fellow New Jersey Delegates David Brearly, William Paterson, and John Neilson. Because he was absent the last day f the Convention he missed so much and left his fellow states men and delegates of New Jersey to do the work for the last day. He missed the vote on how the executive would be picked by the legislature, and how the executive was subjected to an impeachment.
