In William J. Chambliss’ excerpt titled “The Saints and Roughnecks,” he talks about two different “gangs” who, in their society, are labeled given their academic and/or delinquent attitudes. The ‘Saints’ are seen by the community as hard working and academically, high-achieving students who “sometimes” get into trouble. They are teenagers who are involved in clubs at their high school and their average grade never falls below a B. However, their community does not see the illegal activity they involve themselves in nearly every night.
