Microsoft Microsoft is the company that will be analyzed in this project. The purpose of this project is to analyze the years of 2007-2011 of Microsoft Corporation. There will be a horizontal & vertical analysis, and also a ratio analysis. Microsoft develops, manufactures, licenses and supports a wide range of products and services related to computing.
The company was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen. It is the world’s largest software maker measured by revenues. The company also designs and sells hardware, and delivers online advertisement to the customers. The company operates in five segments: Windows & Windows Live Division, Server Tools, Online Services Division, Microsoft business Division, and Entertainment and Devices Division. The company’s products include operating systems for personal computers, servers, phones, and other intelligent devices. The profit margins for Microsoft are in good standing, due to keeping up with technology. Microsoft entered the video industry with the Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles, and also the PC vendor market for the first time with the launch of the Microsoft Surface Tablet computer. Costs that are prevalent within Microsoft are manufacturing and distribution costs for products sold and programs licensed; operating costs related to product support service centers and product distribution centers.
