William Henry "Harry" Wright was an English-born American professional baseball player, a manager, and a developer. He put together, managed, and played for baseball's first professional team, Cincinnati Red Stockings in 1869. For managing and developing of the game, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1952. Wright also made baseball into a business by playing his players up to seven times more than an average working man. Harry Wright was born in Sheffield, England, he was the eldest of five children.
