In William Zinsser essay, “College Pressures,” (1978), the author explains that there are four kinds of pressures working with college students today (economic, parental, peer, and self-induced pressure) and how they can have a negative impact on college students. He cites students who faced college pressures and deans who have seen students experience college pressures. He is showing the college pressures that college students experience throughout their college lives in order for them to release the clammy grip of the future. Zinsser is addressing college students in hopes that they will realize that the road ahead is a long one and that it will have more unexpected turns than they think.
