Willis Eschenbach, a renowned skeptic of global warming, argued that an increase in temperature, no matter how little it is, would not hurt the planet. In a made post in the website called Watts Up With That , he talked about how an eight tenths increase in temperature is an exaggeration and won’t make a difference in the way the human population live in the next couple of years. Not only does the climate experts say that it’s more than eight tenths of an increase, but according to studies, this planet is bound to experience a more drastic amount of increase, ranging from 3.5 – 6°C (Skeptical Science, 2015). This projected increase would not only trigger a change in the way human population lives but could also influence the melting of ice in colder areas of the planet, which results in the releasing of greenhouse gases stored in the melted ice. This release of greenhouse gasses will also trigger an increase in temperature once again. In addition, because of the utilization of fossil fuels, emission done by the human race has been the main driving force as of how the carbon dioxide concentration is increasing and contributes to the increase in the temperature (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2017). Therefore, it is impossible not to trust the linear trend as a predictor of the temperature in the future because as accessibility to vehicles, such as cars, increases, then there is a chance that more people are willing to burn more fossil fuels, which contributes to the increase in temperature.
