Fear can change the way people think and causes people to act a different way than usual. In the Crucible, Abrigail and the group of girls accused innocent people of witch crafting because they were afraid of getting caught and then suffering the consequences which is getting hung. So avoid dying, they decided to falsely accuse other people. The Crucible is similar to the events of the Communists and what happened to the Japanese Americans in the United States. The Crucible is similar to the communists because in the Crucible people were accused of something they had no part in, and the court didn't have strong enough proof of their participation in the witch crafting besides the “victims”.
