How should one respond to a group of witches giving your possible future? In the play of Macbeth, Shakespeare give the main character a tough choice in the first four scenes. Should he try and fulfill the witches prediction and become king of Scotland even if this means killing the current king. Macbeth is given this opportunity and it will affect the rest of his life. Shakespeare uses dark tones, visual cues, and developing characters to portray the darkness of Macbeth.
