Abigail Williams spends most of act two trying to gain her old lover, John Proctor's affection. The movie has a scene originally omitted in the play due to lack of cohesion that is felt when performed. The scene takes place in the woods, where John and Abigail discuss the madness in Salem. Proctor tries to express the disdain he feels for Abigail. But points in the scene prove that Abigail still has a hold on Proctor, making this an important addition to the movie.
