Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart baptized as Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart was born January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria. The year Mozart was born his father published a violin playing manual (Sadie 1). His father came from a well standing family and was a composer, violinist, and assistant concertmaster at the Salzburg court (Wolfgang 3). His mother came from a middle class family of local leaders. He in total had 6 other siblings, but him and his sister Maria Anna were the only ones to survive. At three it is said that he could play chords on the harpsichord. She was of marriageable age and they did not allow her to play anymore. They stayed in Italy for two years. The reason being that Mozart's father wanted his talents in performing and composing to be seen by as many people as possible. He was found to have unmatched musical talent. When he and his father were in Rome they heard Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere performed in the Sistine chapel, and he wrote the whole score down from memory with only a few errors. In 1781 he went to Vienna with the Archbishop and Mozart claims that he was treated like a servant and resigned. He stayed in Vienna with Fridolin Weber and was a freelance composer and performer (Wolfgang 9). While in Vienna he wrote concerts, published music and taught others. In 1782 Mozart married Constanze the daughter of Fridolin Weber with the blessing from her parents and his father not agreeing with the marriage. Mozart's father said she would distract him from his career. Eventually he came around though and gave his blessing for there marriage.
