Introduction
I. For thousands of years, in many different cultures and nations, women have played many roles in their military. From the ancient Amazonian women, to Joan of arc, and to all the women currently serving in conflicts. But, in the United States, women haven’t been granted access to fight alongside men.
A. Combat is defined as active fighting or conflict, especially in a war.
B. Today I will talk to you about why you should support our women in combat, those reasons are that it is discriminatory and sexist not to let them fight, that they should be determined eligible by their ability, and that women already serve in combat in other countries.

If you think about it, military participation in this country has long been connected with the idea of full citizenship, so is it really right not to let women fight? Opponents of those against women in combat argue that physical strength, stamina, and pregnancy are three main reasons that women shouldn’t be in the fight. While pregnancy can certainly be an issue of their delay in deployment, not all women will get pregnant and to blanket all women under this as fact is blatant prejudice because of their sex. On the other hand, physical strength is different from each women, which brings me to my next point that women should be determined eligible by their training and …show more content…
And for those women that do meet these physical standards, they turn them down for positions they qualify for because of the women’s assignment policy and also for outdated ideas. Women can be turned away for a position that they qualify for and hand it to a male that is less qualified. There should be equal standards for all regardless of gender, and those that meet those standards should be able to serve in all fields. Without these equal opportunities, it sets the U.S. behind on other countries that have already been allowing and supporting their women, which brings me to my third reason of women already serving in combat in other
