In the book Wonder, there is a character named Augie, who has a disability. Little do people know that his sister plays one of the biggest roles and his life. Throughout the book, there are many reasons why his sister Via is the underdog and an unsung hero. Many people may think that Augie is the main character but, I think otherwise. There are many reasons why I think that. First of all, she cares a lot about Augie. There are many reasons why I think this. For example, when August was not feeling well on Halloween. Via tried to cheer him up and she wanted him to go trick or treating because Halloween is his favorite holiday. Another reason is August was going to school for the first time and she talked to him about it and tried to help him calm down. Lastly, when Augie was “sick” she did not tell her mother and let Augie stay home from school although he wasn't sick.…show more content… She does this many times throughout the book. For example, her friends were doing stuff over the summer without her and she was very upset, but instead, she did not tell her mom because she did not want her to worry. She did this another time when she did not want to go in the car with her friend Carly so instead, she walked home. However, like I said did not tell her mother so she wouldn't worry.
