. By implementing the policy officials sought to prevent birth defects from occurring as often.
One goal of the policy is to provide information to the public in order to prevent birth defects from occurring as often. According to Karger & Stoesz (2014), “One view of a worthwhile social policy is that it should leave no one worse off and at least one person better off, at least as that person judges his or her needs” (Karger & Stoesz, 2014, p. 6). Many individuals born with birth defects face a life of disability and many are not predicted to live a very long life. This policy seeks to prevent the birth defects from occurring as often by raising public awareness about how birth defects are caused. I find this interesting because interviewers will be receiving first hand information from the mothers of children born with birth defects. The information received could be very beneficial to research being conducted. The CBDRP seems to be a very beneficial and informative source of reliable information in regards to birth
