The Study of Whether Wrestlers Listen to Song Lyrics before a Match: Qualitative Study

Abstract
(Purpose) To find out whether wrestlers, while warming up for a wrestling match listen to the lyrics of songs. (Methods) In order to get the proper information to reach a conclusion I interviewed 10 wrestlers, 3 of which are in college and the other 7 participants being from high school. With these participants I conducted interviews asking them about their warm up process, allowing them to bring up music on their own, and from there I followed with questions that gave information on whether they listened to the lyrics in their warm up process. To go along with that there could be further elaboration on what kinds of music wrestlers respond the best to. This would have to be done with a much greater variety of wrestlers across the country and perhaps just focus on a certain level of wrestling competition. For example, data could change if college and high school athletes were studied separately in order to get the best data. There are certain aspects of my study that were flawed, for example I do not believe I had enough questions that went from a side angle. This way of asking questions from the side is imperative to having the most reliable and unbiased information possible. I also did not interview enough people, and to go along with that, I had already known the wrestlers before the interviews. Much more information can be found in this study if those specific aspects are improved.
