When given the task to stabilize the television shipments on the cargo ship, Sanvi Bhardwaj, Grace Ledford, Grace Keaveney and myself, Catherine Schuessler, prevailed. We have spent a long time sufficiently learning about friction, mass, Newton’s Laws of Motion, and several other topics. We completely understand all of these topics, and were completely qualified to complete this investigation. We are also very experienced. Since September 2015, we have completed several successful experiments, such as compound cutouts, an ice lab, a mixture lab, and a solutions and solubility lab, to name a few. First, we attached a block to a piece of string, and the string to a paper cup. Then, we placed the block on the materials (one at a time), and let the cup hang over the side of the cup. Then, we added metal materials, such as nails, paper clips, and binder clips, to the cup. The materials we used were carpet, felt, tape, and shelf liner. Also, as a control, we completed the investigation with no material underneath. We completed three trials of each material to improve the validity of our experiment. Our results showed that one of the materials could hold a much larger amount of the supplies than the others, without moving the
