Karen Kingsbury is a quite intelligent writer. She has a love for writing and capturing the reader. While I was reading her book I was captured by her wonderful talent. By expressing the feelings of the characters once they were hurt, surprised, or excited, I instantly felt a catharsis and understood exactly the emotion conveyed in the story.

Hannah Ryan’s life was perfect until her husband and eldest daughter were ripped away by a drunken driver. As Hannah Ryan looses her faith in God, she slowly regains it with the help of her living daughter, Jenny Ryan. It taught me to never give up on God no matter what the situation is. I have been in emotional situations where I too felt alone, but through my faith I learned that God has never left me alone.

Hannah Ryan is a loving wife of Dr. Tom Ryan and mom of two beautiful daughters Alicia and Jenny Ryan. She is torn apart by the tragic accident and the death of her husband and eldest daughter Alicia. It was a sergeant that reported the news to Hannah about the death of her family, who ultimately helped her through her doubt with God. Through scripture and patience, Sergeant Miller spent countless hours with Hannah proving God does take people away as a form of punishment. He demonstrated that God’s love was evidence in the time spent with her family. Through their death, God proved her faith was strong enough to not only overcome grief, but to learn to forgive as well. Hannah found the strength to forgive the drunken driver that caused the accident killing her family.
