Curry was born in Akron, Ohio and lived with both of his parents. He was the son of former NBA player Dell Curry, who was known to be the greatest 3-point shooter in history. Stephen Curry then moved to North Carolina when his dad was drafted to the Charlotte Hornets. In 1999, Dell then played for the Toronto Raptors. During his time as a Raptor, he would take his sons, Seth and Stephen to his practices to watch and learn the sport.
Stephen led his college team to an undefeated season when he played for Queensway Christian College basketball team when living in Charlotte, NC. He was looking forward to joining Virginia Tech, where his dad went to college and played, but was rejected by the coach Seth Greenburg. He has set many records during his high school and college years of basketball. After being denied at Virginia Tech and enrolled to Davidson where his second game he became the second highest scorer in the nation. During his freshman year he set a record breaker making 122 three pointers. He also led the Davidson Wildcats to their first NCAA tournament since 1969 and helped them go on a winning streak for 22 games. When playing for the golden state warriors Stephen and his teammate Klay Thompson were given the name “Splash brothers” because of how good they both shot 3 pointers.
