1. Nurses must take into account laws and ethical standards. Nurses make decisions everyday with their patients. It is very important to critically think about how it will affect their decisions. Nursing profession require an understanding of laws, ethics and execution of nursing intervention in general. Ethics is defined by Yoder-Wise “the term ethics describes what we “should” do , as opposed to healthcare policy and laws that inform us of what we “must” do (p.91). Nurses need to know and what they need to do in order to be in control of their profession and how it will affect their practice and to be advocates for their patients.
