Yom Kippur is a Jewish tradition one in combination of Rosh Hashanah is very important to Jews in America. Yom Kippur is all about reconciliation with oneself, with those they’ve wronged, and with God. Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur The Ten days of Repentance signifies the time in which one is to ask for forgiveness and reconcile. While not all Jews celebrate all Jewish holidays, many will come to synagogue for Yom Kippur. Even for less religious Jews Yom Kippur offers a sense of redemption and cleansing that may be helpful regardless of the more spiritual part of it. Yom Kippur also allows one to go through spiritual journey of sorts looking at themselves and improving on themselves, seeing what they’ve done what to improve it’s a time of reflection. Overall, Yom Kippur allows all Jews despite which branch they fall under to look at their life and look to improve upon themselves and reconcile with those they’ve wronged and with God. …show more content…
In abstaining from food, drink, and etc., along with seeking forgiveness this allows people to right wrongs and by seeking to reform in these ways they are honoring God as they are doing right by others. With this not only does Yom Kippur allow Jews to honor God they are also making themselves better people by reflecting on their lives this way. Often, we get so caught up in our current world and state of events and often forget to reflect stand back and look at where we are. Yom Kippur allows Jews to do this. It allows them to look at their life and improve upon it in a manner of spiritual and mental clarity by abstaining from things and looking to change and right wrongs. Therefore, Yom Kippur not only allows a sense of community between different branches of Jews, but it also allows Jews to all come together and reflect on themselves and seek to makes themselves
