Zika Virus Epidemic The Zika virus is spread trough the bite of a mosquito; specifically the bite of an Aedes mosquito that is infected. Now the mosquito is the main source of how the virus is transmitted, but when you have the virus in your blood system it can also be transmitted through sexual acts. Yet the one way that it can be spread that is feared the most is from a pregnant woman to her fetus which would ultimately spread the virus very quickly all over. There have been four hundred and twenty-four reports of the Zika virus in the United States, and of those four hundred and fourteen had to do with people coming back from travel in infected areas. There are a wide range of symptoms that come along with the diagnosis of Zika virus. They include fever, rash, headache, joint pain, red eyes, and muscle pain. These symptoms tend to last about a week but can vary just depending on the severity of the case. There have not been many deaths reported from the Zika virus. Even though the number of infected people is usually very high in a place that is prone to the disease, it is a rather simple virus to treat. The most common birth defect caused by Zika is Microcephaly which is when the brain of the child is born underdeveloped. The virus can also be spread when people get the virus then return to an unaffected area with the virus and the uninfected mosquitoes get the infected blood which then spreads the virus through mosquitoes which did not even have the Zika virus originally. This virus can be spread so easily and is not the most detectable virus either. It may not be the most dangerous virus there is to worry about right now, but it still causing many problems in South America and
