If Tallahassee stayed in the moment of his son’s passing then he wouldn’t have gotten to a happier place where he realized he could care for someone again even though inside he was terrified. He conquered his fear and he found a way to still enjoy the little things along the way, and yes he did get his twinkie by the end of the movie.
