Zombies have become somewhat of a phenomenon in mainstream media nowadays. From books to movies, music to video games, it is impossible to go someplace and not find some kind of reference to pop culture that doesn’t involve zombies. By definition a zombie is a corpse said to be revived by witchcraft, especially in certain African and Caribbean religions, that then becomes a slave to to their reviver. So when did they go from being a product of “voodoo” or “witchcraft” to brain dead corpses that are created due to disease or from random natural phenomenon? Why are zombies so popular in mainstream media now days? Zombies started changing to shambling corpses caused by natural phenomenon all the way back in 1968 with the release of George A.
