Zoonotic is the definition of a disease that is transferred from a dog to a human. Have you ever thought that your own pet would risk your health? Many people's lives are risked everyday from a single fatal movement that requires cleaning or washing a dog. This is when they get a risk of getting hookworms. Hookworms can kill a person and they are so simple to get that the infected person wouldn’t even consider to be ill.
Hookworms in dogs should be prevented and treated because hookworms bite into the digestive system and internal blood loss can be harmful to the dog, it is life threatening, and the zoonotic hookworm infection can cause severe developing diseases in both humans and dogs. If the dog is infected and still sleeps in the household make sure to not let the dog sleep next to a human because the hookworms can dig into the skin and the ride of suffering would not be fun. Avoid walking barefoot on sandboxes or underneath a household since the hookworm larvae are fond of moist ground, but they can be crawling in the grass and other gooey substances. And the waste of a dog in the backyard should be maintained clean or the risk rises for both humans and dogs.
