In the Novel 1984 by George Orwell, the party slogan words are War is peace, Freedom is Slavery and Ignorance is Strength. These slogans are a significance to the book because that is what the book revolves around. All of these slogans are introduced to Winston in part 1. The slogans are all paradoxes meaning they are true in the book . They may not all sound fair or right, but they are true. Each slogan has a meaning behind it. War is peace is true because once you are in a war, it can be a very dark world, but once it is over what usually comes is peace. Freedom is Slavery I believe is the one that I wouldn’t really agree with, but it is true. The last slogan Ignorance is Strength would be the most realistic one because since the people of Oceania cannot know the real history, their innocence and ignorance is what gives power to the party and inner party members. This would be the people that belong to the outer party, the regular people. Being part of the party means you don't have ignorance, you know things that regular people don’t. One of those “things” you know is information about the past. Everyone wants to know, but since their minds have been cleared, they do not have a clue on what history is. The only history they know is the one that the party allows them to know.The party members use the ignorance of people to have the strength. The inner party does this because, in a way of blinding the outer members with false information they will not have to worry about them going against their word. If the people ever try to go against what the party informs them, they will face consequences. For the party which in real life is like the government the less the people know the better because then that means they will not question
