The technology of 1984 is surprisingly accurate to the current technology that we use in today’s world. Today’s world is full of suspicious activity by the government and their use of technology for surveillance of the citizens of the country. In 2013 information was leaked to the public that the NSA was spying on citizens using any type of electronic device via cellphone, computer, and public surveillance. In the book of 1984 there are telescreens that can hear the see what the people are doing and saying. This book has gained a lot of publicity after many articles saying how the technology of Big Brother is so closely resembling todays new world of technology. In the book 1984 there was technology that was used to spy on the citizens of Oceania. Telescreens were used to spy on the citizens of Oceania, they were TVs that could see and hear anything that you do or say. They used the surveillance system to strike fear into any resistance from rising easily and striking fear into anyone curious to doing anything suspicious, because if they were even in the slightest chance suspicious or mischievous activity they would be observed and possibly taken away by the thought police. We have the same exact use of technology but even at a greater length. Our cellphones and computers are automatically wiretapped by the NSA. The American Government spies on the whole world and can access anyone’s data. Anyone that has a cellphone or computer, has most likely been monitored at least once by the NSA for a standard checkup to see if you are not doing any suspicious activity that can be a potential threat to others. Cameras used for surveillance of cities to help protect and solve crimes from happening and to help solve crimes that have happened.
