The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People represent habits of individuals who demonstrate the ability to effectively or ineffectively deal with life, people, and circumstances that are either within or out of their control. After completing the Seven Habits Profile, I found that the scores represented in most of the categories were mid-high scoring eleven and higher which indicate that I am ranked a good to very good leader. In my professional role, my responsibilities include recruitment and selection, training and development, performance appraisal review and feedback, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. Being kind and compassionate, honoring commitments, and not expressing negative thoughts of others when they are not present exemplifies a level of respect that you have for other people. Category 2 focuses on maintaining work-life balance and takes into consideration the needs of others. I must exhibit a level of respect for all of those that I work with whether it be a subordinate staff member or the President. This is critical as a leader in building a level of trust, loyalty, and respect amongst workers. My role requires that others feel confident in their communication with me knowing that any information divulged will remain confidential when necessary. Category 3 represents taking responsibility for self and being in control of your life. I acknowledge and accept that everyone has choices and based on those choices, we make decisions that can either result in a positive or negative result. It is up to each person to make choices as they see fit based on the level of goals or accomplishments that they wish to achieve. I, for example, am currently choosing to pursue my graduate degree.
