SCENE 1: ELIZABETHS BEDROOM Elizabeth in her bed when her alarm goes off for her to wake up. ELIZABETH: All I want to do is click snooze; however, I need to get up and start getting ready for my track meet today. I slept terrible though, all night I was up with agonizing pain. There is a light knock on ELIZABETH'S door.ELIZABETH'S MOTHER enters. ELIZABETH'S MOTHER "Hey sweetie, you?" ELIZABETH sits up to face her mom. ELIZABETH "Yup. That's a lot." Was just going to get up" ELIZABETH'S MOTHER "Okay perfect! I made you some oatmeal that you can take with you on the bus" ELIZABETH "Thanks mom" ELIZABETH'S MOTHER exists swiftly, and makes her way downstairs. She sits on the edge of her bed, with her legs hanging off. ELIZABETH: I am just in so much pain. My leg has been killing me for the last week and a half. ELIZABETH moves to stand up but whinces with pain as she does. ELIZABETH: Yeah, it does not feel any better. ELIZABETH'S MOTHER enters her, ELIZABETH'S room, once again to say goodbye and goodluck. ELIZABETH'S MOTHER "Okay Elizabeth, I am going to head off to work but I will see you later at your track meet." ELIZABETH "Okay, see you mom." I love you." Elizabeth hobbles over to give her mom a hug. ELIZABETH'S MOTHER "Are you okay, ELIZABETH?" ELIZABETH glances down at her right leg as she answers. ELIZABETH: "I'll be fine." I just messed up my leg a couple weeks ago and I was hoping it would feel better today but no luck." ELIZABETH'S MOTHER "Awh, I am so sorry! That is no good for me. Are you going to be okay running today?" ELIZABETH: "I have to be okay." This is my last chance to qualify for state. I need to run
