“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life"- Confucius. The study of how the body moves has always fascinated me, so I want to inform others about the different career paths that are available if you major in kinesiology. For as long as I can remember, kinesiology was always something my elementary P.E teachers majored in but not anymore. In recent years there are several different paths to choose from, “coaching, sports marketing, sport promotion, athletic training, sports medicine, sports psychology, sports law, personal training, exercise rehabilitation, conditioning coaching for athletes, fitness managing, gym/spa ownership, exercise

Most people who have not participated in a sport will rarely know what an athletic trainer is. Athletic trainers help prevent, diagnosis, and act on emergency situations. Personally this is my favorite career choice when majoring in kinesiology. From personal experience, trainers are very helpful, caring, and knowledgeable. Athletic trainers need to be able to heal all sorts of injuries, requiring them to know the anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics to apply to any situation.
The second career is physical therapy. Physical therapists are different than ATs. PTs work with every kind of patient to maintain, rehabilitate, or improve body part, get rid of pain, and prevent any injury. They have the ability to diagnose and fix any musculoskeletal and neurological disorders. They must determine how the flexibility capabilities, make rehab plans, and share with other physicians on a patient's progress. PTs help adults, children, military members, athletes, and the elderly. Being a physical therapist pays itself off over time

Personal trainers are responsible to help others achieve their physical and sometime mental goals. Personal trainers work 1-on-1 with clients and are either working for a corporation or small gyms. Those who work at a big-time gym, like LA Fitness or 24 Fitness, get payed less than a trainer that works at a small gym. Most of the time the small gym personal trainers are self employed. Personal trainers also need to know exercise physiology and anatomy to be able to give the correct fitness plans and assess their fitness levels. Lastly, to be a good personal trainer it is better to lead by example and maintain good health.
All of the careers listed above require a basic knowledge of the inside of the body. Most universities and state colleges require at least one course of kinesiology at one point in a student's curriculum. Learning about how the bones, muscles, ligaments, the lungs, heart, and injuries work are the basis of all the careers in kinesiology.
Whether or not you are interested in athletic training, physical therapy, or personal training, knowledge of the human body and how it works is a prerequisite. Kinesiology could be a course you can take, so give it a try. All profession listed in the introduction paragraph and in this essay are in need right now. Especially physical therapy, which has been projected to be in the top 5 jobs to have by 2022 due to a shortage of people in the profession. Wouldn’t you want to
