Sports Medicine Physical Therapy is the combination of treating, caring for, and preventing injuries in injured athletes and non-athletes alike. To be a sports medicine physical therapist it is typically around 6 to 7 years of schooling to fully be a sports medicine physician. A top ranking school, which has a chance of giving great education in this field, is Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. The reason Northwestern University is a good choice for this career, is because one of the most popular majors at this college are kinesiology, health sciences and services. The average cost to attend Northwestern University is around $64 a year. Northwestern University is a 4 year school, but Northwestern also has a dual credit program, where one can get two degrees, in 5 years. And an option for out of state students, and even in state students, is a two year minimum dorm living situation. For a more affordable option, another good College for Kinesiology, is Tarleton State University, Stephenville, Tx. Tarleton has majors in Kinesiology, Biology, Health Sciences, and Biomedical Sciences. The average cost a year in Tarleton is around $22,000 a year. Tarleton is a 4 year college, but some are known to be able to finish their schooling in two years, it depends on the dedication, and work one puts into their courses. At Tarleton, first year students are required to live on campus, unless the student gets an exemption to live off campus. After the first year, you can choose to stay in the dorms, or live off campus in an apartment or house. The schooling necessary is typically 3 years for a DPT degree, 2 years for a Bachelor in Kinesiology, depending on what school you go to, and you need to take a CPR course to get CPR certified. And every two years, it needs to be renewed.
