Many people in today's world own animals from pets to livestock and at some point they all need to see a doctor. From annual check-ups to the unexpected emergency its always a good idea to have a veterinarian contact information handy. Veterinarians office today can vary from specially designed campers or trailers to a typical building. I have seen large animal veterinarians with both to accommodate large farms, or horse stables were loading and transporting the animal is not practical. A veterinary practice can succeed when the time is taken to invest in experience and expertise from others (Storm, 2017) I have used both a brick and mortar veterinarian and now use a mobile veterinarian. A mobile veterinary usually is local and bring their office and equipment to your location. When an emergency situation happens depending on the time of day or night and the severity of the injury a trip is inevitable. In current times there has been an abundance of emergency or 24-hour veterinary service pop up in most cities allowing for anytime service at any hour. The downside is you don't know who will be taking care of your animal at the time. Veterinarians located in rural areas are often respected in their communities (Villarroel, McDonald, Walker, Kaiser, Dewell, & Dewell, 2010). Mobile veterinary usually works alone and develop a relationship with you and your pet. At most brick and mortar location there is a team of veterinarians, and you never know which one you will get. On the positive side, a brick and mortar with multiple people can work together to resolve a complicated case. Ordinarily, mobile veterinarians have connections to a traditional vet to use equipment not available for portability or to have emergency lab work done when the time is short. Considering the emotional lives of a clients pet is decisive to the role of veterinarians (Hanrahan, Sabo, & Robb, 2017).
