Tone is the general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, or situation. This can help the authors strengthen or give firmness to the point they are trying to argue. The tone the authors use in the area of the article is objective, academic and it has a bit of dramatic tone. An example the authors use is, “They are becoming heavier simply as a result of who they choose to have as their friends.” (Julie Janeway) The authors state a fact in their article which makes this tone objective and academic. This fact that the authors also state is inaccurate because people are surrounded by friends all day, and friends are there to help you out. So if your friend you know is trying to lose weight I would want to help them out and motivate them as well. For example, if my friend is trying to lose weight and him/her and I go out to eat I’m going to make sure they don’t eat anything unhealthy and I would order something healthy to, to motivate them. Overall in this area of the article the authors say don’t rely on your
