Accomplishments:
1) Born a commoner, Imhotep gained his important position in society through his natural gifts and talents (writing, medicine, mathematics, astrology, architecture, etc).
2) Lead designer and supervisor of King Djoser’s step pyramid.
3) Was high priest of Ptah.
4) Founder of the Egyptian system of medicine and the first Egyptian to regard disease and injury as naturally occurring and not as punishments sent by the gods.
5) The first non-ruler whose life was recorded and passed down in history.
6) Held many titles that indicated his skills, duties, and position. Some of these include: “The Chancellor of the King of Lower Egypt”, “The first after the King of Upper Egypt”, “Administrator of the Great Palace”, “Hereditary Lord”, “The High Priest of Heliopolis”, and “Imhotep the Builder, the sculptor, and the maker of stone vases”

Imhotep, “event making” or “eventful”?
I believe that Imhotep should be considered an “event making” man due to the fact that virtually no one could replicate the success that he had achieved if they were placed in his position. Born a commoner, Imhotep was naturally gifted in many important skills of the time. Some of these skills were writing, architecture, mathematics, and astrology. Because of this, he quickly gained status as he rose through the ranks of the priesthood. He became a High Priest and eventually went on to serve King Djoser, the Pharaoh at the time. While serving Djoser, Imhotep was the lead architect and supervisor during the construction of Djoser's step pyramid. Standing at sixty-two metres tall, it was the tallest structure in the world for a time.
