Achondroplasia is a form of dwarfism. The word achondroplasia means “ without cartilage formation.” Cartilage is a strong bendable tissue that is makes up of the skeleton at the earliest development. It's a disorder where bone growth is disproportionate. Basically dwarfism is a condition of low stature or small size an and adult. Achondroplasia is similar to another skeletal disorder called achondroplasia. But Achondroplasia features are more sever than hypochondroplasia. People with achondroplasia are usually have a normal torso but short limbs. It's the most common type of dwarfism. For males with this disease, the average height is 131 centimeters which is 4 feet and 4 inch and for females with achondroplasia they are 124 centimeters which is 4 feet 1 inch. They have a limited range of motion at their elbows. They also have an enlarged head which is called macrocephaly and frontal bossing. Macrocephly is a condition where the head abnormally large, it includes the scalp, and the cranium and its cranial bone. Frontal bossing is an unusually prominent forehead and a enlarge eyebrow ridge. People with achondroplasia have short fingers and the middle finger may bend,giving the hand trident look which is when the hands are small with stubby fingers. Health problems that have to do with achondroplasia could be when breathing slows or stops for short periods of time. Obesity and ear infections could also be problems. In a childhood the individual with the condition most of the time develope a permanent sway on the lower back called lordosis. There are also some other people who are affected and also develop abnormal front -to-back curvature of the spine called kyphosis.
