Adversity is when one is experiencing difficulty, or misfortune. As a small child, it would be hard for adversity to be more than losing a crayon, or the pencil point breaking. As that small child grows older, now into the teenage years, thinking he/she is tough, adversity may still only be something as small as a phone screen cracking, or failing a test. But as that teenager grows, so does the level of adversity. Adversity can make or break a person’s life. In the Bible, in Psalms 145:14 it states, “ The Lord sustains all who fall And raises up all who are bowed down.” This meaning that whomever faces adversity are settled by God, before he raises them up. Adversity is not a permanent thing, it is temporary. This generation needs to learn just that. More times than not people think it is the end of the world over every single little thing that is not perfect, these are the ones that should watch the movie, “The Blind Side”. In this movie Michael Oher is homeless, has nothing left, has never had anything before, but he believed and prayed to God that his life was not over yet. He truly believed his life was still searching for a way to overcome the adversity. bad in this movie. Much like parents, he tries to teach the youth of this generation what it is like to be a good person, and to show them that good things do happen to good people. John Batiste once said, “You’re never too important to be nice to people.” This quote not only refers to many lives of people out there, but also pertains to “The Blind Side” as well. Beth Lewis, the white woman who took in Michael did not have to do that, but by the Grace of God and the goodness of her heart she chose to help this boy out and change his life in the process. If children should take anything from Hancock’s movie, it should be this quote. Nobody deserves to be pitied, or put down by anybody, especially if that somebody believes they are of higher importance. Everybody matters, nobody is more important than another, enough to be treated poorly at
