After the Civil War, life for Africans Americans in the United States was a world renewed. There was no more need for whippings and the raping of African American woman, in the selling of slaves that tore apart many families. Now they were only opportunities for Education marriage home ownership and many more. For African Americans what was once denied their freedom in the many privileges that came along with it, was finally there's after years of fighting for it. However, life after slavery also proved to be quite the challenge. Although slavery was over the racism of whites continued all throughout the South and even new laws were organized to keep Africans Americans in check. For many African Americans when slavery ended it brought hope to many who were once enslaved. However, their daily life still faces many challenges as free men and women. After the civil war, freed African American families were promised 40 acres of land and a mule. However, during this time President Andrew Jackson ordered that all the land would remained to white landowners so, even till this day we have never received our 40 acres of land and a mule. Black Codes, were a set of laws separate black people from whites and to restrict blacks people from living in white neighborhoods) economic status, social prospects, and legal recourse.
