A Day America Will Never Forget People fell to their knees crying out in disbelief of what had just happened before their eyes.Terror froze on everyones face as they heard the sound of glass shattering and saw the pitch black smoke pouring out of the towers, the sound of people jumping to their deaths, thud after thud. The crashing sound of the towers coming down filled the air in just a matter of seconds. The smoke engulfed the city as far as Manhattan, then complete silence. September 11th 2001, was a day that nobody will ever forget. It was a day full of sadness and destruction. Before the attacks of September 11th took place , people rarely focused on patriotism people would spend each others time worrying about the small things but on that day everyone forgot all of that , and just a matter of days after the attacks America was united in patriotism. (Frank 117 -118) After these attacks it was very important to show that we still stand and to tell whoever attacked us , no matter what you do we our a country and we will stand together in that. Not just in America were people showing their grief for America, after the attacks many countries such as England, Germany and Japan all hung up American Flags and sang The Star Spangled Banner in respect of the events that had just occurred in our country. (Frank 118) People wanted to honor and remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 in every way they could as anniversaries of this tragic day. On March 11th, 2002 marked the 6th month anniversary of the attacks this marked half a year since 9/11 and was one of the first bigger anniversaries. People everywhere gathered around to have a moment of silence for all those who were victims of the attacks , people would leave flowers ,stuffed animals and make a memorial site for all of the victims.(Santella 38) It was and is very important for kids to know what happened that day and that is a day that shall not be forgotten. Park Avenue Elementary wanted to do this and show the kids that September 11th , 2001 was a day of tragedy and it should be remembered.
