The Fortune 500 is an annual list of the five hundred most profitable US industrial corporations. Women currently hold 22 (4.4%) of CEO positions out of the 500 companies (Catalyst. Women are thought to not be capable enough to handle a CEO job, because they are “emotional, sensitive, we can get pregnant, we will not make rational decisions, etc.” The glass ceiling is a phrase used to describe the limitations on the upward mobility or career advancement of women.
