“The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” This was once said by Mahatma Gandhi and I belive this means that you can tell how the nations animals is treated by how they care for the environment . I believe that animals need more help from humans. I believe this because, us humans can destroy anything but then we don't think about the consequences.

People always put their needs before animals and they don’t think about the consequences that will happen. We create a lot of waste. In “Hey Come On Out” (on page 423 paragraph 31-32) it is a situation that people throw away garbage, bodies, nuclear waste, old documents, etc and they did not think about the situation that was going to happen after. In “Hey Come

But then we fill that area with mines, powerlines, crowded neighborhoods, oil pipeline, hunters, skyscrapers. This supports my claim because it shows that we tear down where the animals live. So that shows that we are not taking our animals into consideration, we are just taking our needs for us. We think we need to build more houses so more humans can live, but do we think about that process. We tear down the trees the farmland just to build factories that pollute our world, neighborhoods/ houses for the people that tear down these places for the animals to live. All these horrible actions ruin our environment and the sad part is that we have some people that are trying to help restore nature, but then there are people that don’t care so they throw garbage on the ground and that will overpower the good …show more content…
This supports my claim because it shows that we waste so much, and all of it goes into our environment. Where do people think all this waste goes? Well it all goes into our environment and our animals have to live with it. When people get soda bottles, they have a plastic holder that keeps them in their 6 or 12 pack. After people are done with those plastic holders they just throw them away and they go into what, from afar, looks like a mountain. Those are our mountains full of garbage, but when you throw those plastic holders out and don’t cut them and then seagulls or any birds can get their beaks stuck in them because they don’t know what they are doing . Then those animals are getting stuck and then can’t get their beaks out and can’t eat, and breath and then they die because humans can’t be responsible with our own trash.

In “ Silent Spring ” it says we Banned DDT and other harmful pesticides, this should show that we put our animals needs before ours, But that's not right. Because they banned DDT after it was already widely used. This supports my claim because we already have tried these things on our animals. If we wanted to put our needs second think we should not have sprayed DDT down in the first place, or gotten rid of it as soon as we saw what it can do to animals. We put our needs before our animals because we wanted our weeds gone so we sprayed DDT down not thinking about how it can
