The mood of the poem changes throughout. It goes from dark and lonely, to mysterious and confused, to finally crazed and annoyed. With the recent death of his wife it adds to the idea of loneliness and dark while leaving room for mystery.
The mood for the Raven was very dark and lonely. The narrator was sat by himself reading and falling asleep. “Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore— While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,” (Peo 1). He had no one around because of the death of his wife not long before. Was it not only lonely, it was a mysterious setting as well.
